When Morse first came to Oxford he met a girl named Wendy who liked to be called Susan. They fell in love. And although Susan soon left him, Morse never fell out of love with her. She's essentially the reason he failed his exams because "in his despair, he did nothing - absolutely nothing."
This is a Morse/Susan mix. Because I recently watched 'Dead on Time' and it broke my heart all over again.
