Inspiration for my novel's antagonist, a self-absorbed augur in the service of a corrupt empire. He is a sheltered academic, his complicated history at the university in dire contrast with his entirely singular motivation to become the foremost arcane authority. As the first track suggests, his eyes are vivid with a beguiling envy. His ambition is thwarted by the protagonist, a rebellious student whose strange magical ailment is the key to the creation of his panacea. The final four tracks describe their unfortunate romance.
