The term honky tonk has an interesting history. Some traced the term to the mid 1800’s when a gang of rustlers followed the honks of flying of geese, assuming they were heading in the direction of music from a distant saloon. As years passed, the term characterized ragtime piano play, and its own style in 50’s country music. Some claim it’s a bar, while others relate the term to a certain flip flop attitude of living.
