"Siddha was little more than a shadow herself - dark hair, dark eyes, with skin the deep bronze color of the Kvaltan desert at dusk. She was beautiful in the way that storms were: alluring, but ultimately deadly. Her smile, if she gave it, was as sharp as the twin curved blades that rested on her lithe hips.
She had once been a horse tamer among the Jukvas' traveling caravans, but had long ago traded in that life for one drenched in crimson and gold.
Sometimes, if you looked at the right moment, she seemed poised to disappear, to fly away.
That was why Veryan called her Kethla, 'sparrow' in Kvaltan.
