As Kubo’s magical powers grow, he discovers he is able to travel through space and time in his dreams. He finds himself in the dreams a young girl named Coraline Jones, on the other side of the world thousands of years in the future, and an unlikely friendship blooms between them.

Kubo visits Coraline’s dreams every night, and over time they fall in love. Unfortunately the more Kubo visits her, the more it exhausts him. Unable to travel to him, Coraline convinces Kubo to visit her once every full moon, when he’s strong enough to make the trip.

Kubo reluctantly agrees and creates a special shamisen piece for Coraline–Cherry Blossoms in Winter–so they can remember each other when they are apart.
