Notes
Sound is vibration transmitted through a solid, liquid, or gas; particularly, sound means those vibrations composed of frequencies capable of being detected by ears.
When an object vibrates, it compresses the adjacent layer of the air. Then this compressed layer tries to come back to normal condition eventually compressing the next layer. This is how a wave propagates.
When this wave reaches our ears the eardrum vibrates and we hear the sound.
