Generally I liked it; a bit samey but I guess it was focusing on an area of music, which meant it did flow well.
1. Ayreon - Comatose:
Hmm, I like it...atmospheric.
2. Opeth - Harvest:
Quite good, I think I like the brooding mood of it best. Was surprised I didn't latch on to it though, heard a lot about Opeth.
3. Rishloo - El Empe:
This moaned a bit too much for me. It picked up a bit when it got angry but I can't see myself returning.
4. Katatonia - July
Promising but it didn't click with me this one.
5. Martin Grech - Dali
The riffs and the underlying 'beats' sort of work, but though atmospheric the quiet bits detract a bit for me. Vocals are crazy.
6. Sonjagon - Monsters
Sort of annoyed me this one, didn't really fit together. Then it went on a bit.
7. Pain of Salvation - The Big Machine
Very expressive vocalists in your playlists, Sippe! This was very epic indeed.
8. Ours - Mercy
This is awesome. The vocalist is just amazing, really blows you off your feet, and I just love the mood.
9. Kamelot - Abandoned
Of course this sounds a bit cliché and over-the-top but it's earnest, warm and well-constructed which made up for it. I liked how it gradually built up. I'll return to it.
10. Fair To Midlands - Dance of The Manatee
This certainly has something different going for it. Vocals are again a strong point, particularly the clean ones, which are weird and quivery. Whole song is rather nervous really, in a good way.
11. Wolverine - A House of Plague
They share many similarities imo, but this didn't endear me as the Kamelot track did and ended up cliché after all.
12. Khoma - One Of Us Must Hang
This one got it right; again, it was the vocals that won me over initially, and the guitar feels meaningful and not just chugging away like some of the others.
