Sparklehorse was an American alternative rock band formed in 1995 and led by Mark Linkous (September 9, 1962 - March 6, 2010), a Richmond, Virginia native and last of a long line of southern coalminers. Linkous recorded much of Sparklehorse's material in his home studio, and his Southern Gothic vision guided Sparklehorse. Drummer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Minor was a frequent collaborator. Jason Lytle (born 26 March 1969 in Modesto, California) is an American musician best known for his work in the indie rock group Grandaddy between 1992 and 2005. Since the group split, Lytle has continued to release music as a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians (including being a member of indie rock band Admiral Radley).
