The Haight-Ashbury area evolved from a small district in California to become the capital of counterculture in the late 1960's. Fueled by drugs, love and the sounds of both the stage and the street, Haight-Ashbury gave people hope, happiness and peace. Most importantly though, it helped give meaning to a generation.
