Music for the Modern Empowered Slut

Notes

In honour of International Women's Day, here are some songs sung by some exceptionally bold and self-aware women that feature a mindset typically associated with masculinity. Wherever you fall on the continuums of monogamy to polyamory; homosexual to heterosexual; masculine to feminine, let yourself be open and accepting to the positions that others take on these scales and confident in your own unique place without feeling the need to adhere to any categories.

I misread your first words, sorry. I'm not trying to re-claim or appropriate the term, just draw attention to it and you proved that it worked. I can see your point though, certainly. In any case, I hope you weren't too offended, and can see the reasoning here regardless of how successful you found it :)

Did you read my post? I do love the description and the message it conveys, but I don't think the title was successful. I understand appropriation, the gay rights movement taking the word "Queer", the feminist group Guerilla Girls taking "girl". But at a certain point 'not remaining politically correct' just becomes tacky.

Truthfully, I come at things from more of an artistic perspective than a journalistic one, where sparking debate about a topic (getting people to think about it - to ask questions) is much more important than remaining politically correct.

Did you read the description? You may have noticed that I was using the stereotype to address how that attitude is typically associated with males but given a negative connotation when it comes to females (when it certainly need not be, and when it can be empowering). But I can see how that may not have been obvious, and for that I apologize.

I love your description, I hate the title. "Modern Empowered Slut"? did you title the black history month mix "Modern Empowered Nigger"? how about "Modern Empowered Faggots" for gay rights? You haven't and you wouldn't because it's so obviously wrong to do so.
