Caden could feel his approach. Hayden’s arms wound across his waist and his hot breath shivered down Caden’s neck as he spoke. Caught in his embrace, Caden stared straight towards the darkened window and in the glass, by the candles at their back, he glowed with a reflective corona that obscured him in his shadow. Hayden clung to Caden in this effacing silhouette, holding him like the lover he could not be, while Caden’s hair and cheeks flushed red in the light.
