Cooper has disappeared. Somehow the world continues to spin, leaving Gordon and Albert to pick up the pieces of Blue Rose. A return to normalcy is impossible (was there ever "normalcy" to being with?), but something akin to constancy is found between them as time moves on.

25 years later, Cooper--or something pretending to be Cooper--turns up in South Dakota.
