i'm actually not really that knowledgeable in the funk department. i discovered that Public Enemy sampled The Grunt in one of their tracks by hearing it in a record store one day. lots of good funk sampled in rap and hip hop, i realized. anyway, speaking of good funk, great mix! thanks for the funk discussion as well!! :)

the creative source track... withers has that track on his 1972 Still Bill album, and it's also on the Jackie Brown soundtrack :) just so happens that i'm wild about that song... and about bill withers. damn, if you like that song, you MUST check out his track Use Me off the same album, maybe you know it already. both songs have SO much feeling, so much degradation, being so wronged and, at least in Use Me, loving every minute of it, or at least reveling in it for a hot minute:
