Just found out that the song is actually entitled "James Brown" and it is sung by Nancy Dupree & Rochester School-children. The LP on which it was released is entitled "Ghetto reality". I'm sorry for misleading you, I don't know why I was so sure it was a James Brown tune, prolly because it sounded a lot like it, although I didn't hear his voice over it. I'll edit the song info asap. Good luck with your band btw! :)
